- Alex's career in construction began long before leaving school as his family owned a local construction company so it seemed natural to spend any holiday periods going to work with his family. This led to Alex joining the business upon leaving school and there he spent 15 years learning the ropes. Alex's career covered all elements of the business, project management, finance management, surveying and estimating, apart from actually working on site, he became well versed in all other aspects of a construction company. During his employment he was fortunate to work on, oversee and project manage some prestigious local projects, some on period properties where heritage works were at the forefront, and others where modern and contemporary ideas were put into place.
One of the most exciting and rewarding projects Alex oversaw was the creation of a water garden at a local stately home. With various water features, play areas for children and plethora of materials from across the world, it has been a very popular visitor attraction for over 10 years now. - Alex's career path then took him away from the family business, and he became General Manager of one of the leading restoration companies in the UK. During the course of his tenure it allowed Alex to project manage works on York Minster Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the new Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre.
Alex spent three years overseeing up to 50 projects at any one time, nationwide. He had a team of 10 contract managers working under him and at times in excess of 100 site staff. It became apparent in 2019, that whilst the experience gained working with and for others was extensive, Alex had the desire to do it for himself. It was at this time that Stamfordian Construction Ltd was formed, along with his business partner Paul. Not only had Alex and Paul gone to school together, over the course of their careers, they had worked together on many occasions. Sharing the same passion and recognising each other’s skill set was the foundation for what they set out to create.
Now, they are a growing multi-million-pound company, leaders in the construction industry, undertaking projects both residential and commercial, with a strong core team and extensive network of local contractors - Outside of work, Alex is a happily married father to five children. He loves to travel to experience new cultures. Also, he has taken up a new hobby recently, where he is learning clay pigeon shooting.
